Send notes of appreciation to others – Day 5
Day 5 is a bit late, but I’m back to it after a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving! My daughter and I, and a friend of mine, had a full turkey dinner and as many others, we probably ate too much of it but enjoyed ourselves none-the-less!
So the objective of day 5 is a wonderful concept — send notes of encouragement and appreciation to others daily. I’m sure this can be done virtually or with snail mail, or probably even over the phone. Nothing elaborate or huge, but a simple sentence or two to someone (maybe even someone you don’t know personally but know virtually) to let them know how much you appreciate what they offer to the world! Simple, but imagine how effective this could be.
This is actually something that wouldn’t be hard to do in today’s Internet-connected world. I actually have a virtual card membership (bluemountain.com), and of course there are hundreds of Facebook and Twitter friends who could use a boost; everyone likes to hear that they are appreciated! I intend to start doing this every day!
I have to admit; in the last few days when I ignored these exercises as a result of the holiday, I found myself not nearly as bubbly and upbeat as I had been the four days previous. I’m convinced that constantly engaging in positive activities, and expressing positive thoughts towards yourself and others, is the key to being happier!
