Just how far will Palin go to get media attention?

internet news

In one of the lowest efforts I’ve seen yet this election year, today at a rally in California Sarah Palin misquoted Madeline Albright, former Secretary of State and Ambassador to the United Nations. Or, maybe she just couldn’t read the fine print, I’m not sure. Regardless, it appears Palin is on a mission from God; distract voters, at all costs, from the obviously significant issues this election year, even if it takes winks, misquotes, and whatever you’ve got to get on the nightly news.

The quote, Ms. Palin indicates she found on a Starbucks coffee mug (what are the odds huh) states “”There’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t help other women.” Ms. Palin’s version however, as she was so willing to share this morning, went like this, “There’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.” Clearly, there is a difference in meaning here, that Palin capitalized on.

So how far will Ms. Palin go to support this failing campaign? Pretty far it seems. Since the vice presidential debate, Palin has taken on an attack-dog like zeal (she now even indicates she reads The New York Times) accusing candidate Barack Obama of ties to terrorists. Obama was eight years old when the “domestic terrorist” Palin refers to were at their most dangerous.

But these efforts only fuel the fire of a waning campaign, showing the world that John McCain is pulling his last straws in an effort to try to turn the tides once again in his favor. Not only is McCain not appearing too presidential or popular lately, Ms. Palin’s own woes refuse to die.

Recently a judge in Alaska concluded that proceeding with an investigation into Palin’s troopergate probe would not hinder her rights under the law and should continue. Of course the McCain campaign is appealing the decision but the fact remains - the issue is of enough significance, and the proof must be sufficiently real to warranted continued investigation. And in a recent decision by the Palin camp, it now appears that Todd Palin will Read the rest of this entry »

What will it take for voters to finally say “we’ve had enough!”

internet news

All week mainstream media has speculated about tomorrow’s pending Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. From all appearances, this will end up being the most widely watched Vice Presidential debate of all time. And with good reason.

Considering the instability of the U.S. and global economic systems right now and what appears to be building aggressions by rivals abroad, more than ever the VP position is being held to a higher standard as voters try to get a handle on which candidate will do the best job once they are elected to office.

For Sarah Palin, convincing voters that she’s prepared will be as easy for some, as it will be difficult for others. With the “Palin bubble” wearing off since the Republican National Convention last month it was only a matter of time before critics and those uncertain of her qualifications began digging for more substance from her candidacy.

Considering how cloistered Palin has been since the RNC that hasn’t been easy to do. But many Read the rest of this entry »

In times of crisis just tell us your story. NOT!

internet news

A recent Politico report by Jonathan Martin indicates that Sarah Palin, John McCain’s running mate, is set and poised to “tell her story” to the world [really, I'm so sorry, but its true]. Apparently, according to this news report, Palin is going to be doing some “soft” conservative radio shows over the next few days in which she’s allowed to tell the world her story and be more like “Sarah”.

Now, please don’t get me wrong here, but … DO WE CARE ABOUT HER STORY???

Sorry, that just kinda came out, like that, a little harsh.

But truly, at a time of the most serious and dangerous economic crisis since the depression, and wars and nuclear proliferation escalations surrounding us, do we really want to KNOW where little Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s help Cafferty show Palin the way out!

internet news

CNN political reporter Jack Cafferty needs our help! Cafferty recently asked viewers to answer the question “Will McCain ask Sarah Palin to step down?”

We need to let Jack know that the question should not be “will he ask her” but instead should be “how quickly should Palin step down”.

This theme is now a very prevalent one, and something I have never seen in politics before. Even Dan Quayle, most acknowledged, had the basic intellectual capacity to do the job if necessary. Palin just has not shown anyone that she has even a basic understanding of world or domestic concepts; enough that she would even be able to lead a group of experts in the task of making important decisions.

Sadly, many women I talk to think she’s a “go getter” and because she’s been a “hockey mom with a career” she’s qualified. I’ve alluded that I believe Sarah is hindering the prospects of future female politicians and career women who would be fully capable of the #2 spot by making a fool of herself and successful women everywhere who have truly tried to overcome the stereotype that a woman isn’t as smart or as capable as any man.

Given today’s political and economic climate I think it is about time we told McCain THANKS BUT NO THANKS to Sarah Palin. If he doesn’t want to remove her from the ticket, then he can just go home and enjoy his seven mansions in solitude and peace. Palin, may she rest in the satisfaction of her deeds, has not only ruined her own chances for a solid, legitimate political office in the future, but has also taken down with her many women who did not deserve to be lumped in with the idiocy that is the Palin campaign.

Palin ruins chances for women in the future and should quit

internet news

Recently a conservative reporter, Kathleen Parker, was quoted as stating:

Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

We beg you Sarah Palin, if you care about this great nation at all, please take your toys and go home to Alaska.

Please, please, please, Sarah, do it not only for your children, but for women everywhere! End this charade and quit hurting the chances of intelligent, hard working women in the future of being able to actually work their way up into high political office. And, please do so before the Thursday debate, as you will only make matters worse if you pretend that you actually deserve to be standing at the podium as a viable candidate.

Here’s a recent example of the type of ineptitude that should shame Sarah Palin into realizing she just doesn’t have it.

According to a recent CNN report, “Saturday night, while on a stop for cheesesteaks in South Philadelphia, Palin was questioned by a Temple graduate student about whether the U.S. should cross the border from Afghanistan into Pakistan.”

Palin’s response just happened to contradict McCain’s stance on the matter and, in fact, agrees with Read the rest of this entry »

FaceBook users sound off in pro v. anti Palin duels

internet news

Probably the most exciting development of the elections this year has been the social media obsessions that have spread so quickly to young and old alike.

FaceBook users have been especially vocal this year in regard to political issues. Since Palin was chosen to run with John McCain FaceBook users have generated over 500 groups pertaining to her candidacy, either for or against it. I was curious to see how the groups would match up in a side-by-side comparison of anti-Palin and pro-Palin groups; the results were rather surprising.

Obviously this isn’t the most scientific research effort, but the results are far more revealing than I had anticipated. I’ve provided a summary of the results below, followed by a discussion of some of the caveats in these numbers, and how this was not a scientific endeavor but more of amusement to fill a curiosity (i.e., a burning desire to see how many other FaceBook users felt the same way about Palin as I do). At the bottom of this article I have Read the rest of this entry »
