Palin ruins chances for women in the future and should quit
Recently a conservative reporter, Kathleen Parker, was quoted as stating:
Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.
We beg you Sarah Palin, if you care about this great nation at all, please take your toys and go home to Alaska.
Please, please, please, Sarah, do it not only for your children, but for women everywhere! End this charade
and quit hurting the chances of intelligent, hard working women in the future of being able to actually work their way up into high political office. And, please do so before the Thursday debate, as you will only make matters worse if you pretend that you actually deserve to be standing at the podium as a viable candidate.
Here’s a recent example of the type of ineptitude that should shame Sarah Palin into realizing she just doesn’t have it.
According to a recent CNN report, “Saturday night, while on a stop for cheesesteaks in South Philadelphia, Palin was questioned by a Temple graduate student about whether the U.S. should cross the border from Afghanistan into Pakistan.”
Palin’s response just happened to contradict McCain’s stance on the matter and, in fact, agrees with Senator Barack Obama’s recent stance on the situation in Pakistan. Palin is quoted as stating, “If that’s what we have to do stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should,” Palin said.
McCain has an established record of negotiating with Pakistan before infiltrations for terrorists within their border, a stance Palin apparently wasn’t aware of.
In fact this comes after recent McCain attacks against Obama for indicating that he would also strike if necessary. After one such attack Obama stated, “If the United States has al Qaeda, bin Laden, top-level lieutenants in our sights, and Pakistan is unable or unwilling to act, then we should take them out.” McCain accused the Senator of announcing strategic intentions publicly, in an effort to try to show that Obama is not experienced enough to understand foreign affairs.
So this makes Palin not only uninformed about McCain policy, or foreign affair issues, but also means she’s really not paying that much attention to what’s going on even over the past week! This is truly a shame, makes a mockery of the presidential elections, and it is an embarrassment to intelligent women everywhere who have worked hard to know what is going on in their world and worked to make it better.
In an effort to retract Palin’s stance McCain told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, “She would not…she understands and has stated repeatedly that we’re not going to do anything except in America’s national security interest.”
Oh McCain, it is sad, isn’t it – to have to deal with such ineptitude and realize now that perhaps, just perhaps, you made the gravest mistake of your entire career. The poor woman can’t even get a Philly cheesesteak without putting her foot in her mouth!
Palin has, instead of breaking glass ceilings, actually created a situation in which it will be more difficult, not easier, for women in politics in the future. The next woman who attempts to be included as part of the “big boys” in the political game called presidential politics, will be shunned and automatically equated with Palin in the future.
Thanks, but no thanks, Sarah Palin. Your continued insistence that you are “ready” for this job will only result in you looking like a fool, and Americans looking even more foolish than ever. I completely agree with Ms. Parker on this one – If you have a heart at all, you’d know that country should come first, over personal principle and pride. Do the right thing Sarah, before its too late.
