Content, content, content
traffic generating tips, web development
In real estate, when asked what matters in buying or selling a home you’ll often hear this old adage: location, location, location.
Well your website “home” requires the same approach, but in this virtual environment the appropriate correlate would be content, content, content.
Original and interesting content cannot be stressed enough. But even good content isn’t enough; you also need to keep the content fresh, providing new information to your site at least once a week (at the least) and once a day or more, ideally.
Your content should be website relevant. That doesn’t mean you can’t sprinkle in a bit of humor here and there to liven things up, but overall your page rank will depend upon how relelvant your site is for key words and phrases. If your site is watered down with too many irrelevant links, or content that doesn’t seem to fall into one or two categories your rank could suffer.
Providing relevant and timely content doesn’t have to be difficult, however. Take time each day to spend at least half an hour developing short articles on relevant topic areas. At some point you can merge some of the shorter articles into one larger “10 tips” article, or compile all your wisdom and create an e-book that you provide free if visitors sign up for your daily updates.
Think creatively, but stay within the guidelines of what works: on-topic, targeted content that engages readers, and keeps them wanting to come back for more.
