McCain's stupid VP choice results in loss of support (and I don't think I'm alone)

I am saddened and dismayed, heartbroken really, at the recent decision by McCain to choose Palin as a running mate. There is no question that a woman could have been a good choice for the position, considering the desperation so many woman felt when Hillary was not nominated. But what idiot convinced McCain that choosing a female with less than 2 years political experience would be a good idea!!!

I have cast a Democratic presidential ticket since I’ve been old enough to vote (and in spirit even before that). This year would have been the first year I would have voted for a Presidential Republican candidate. My decision had to do with a relative lack of experience in Obama’s candidacy. I love his ideas, his zeal and his belief in the “American dream” but it always seemed like he was living in an imaginary world with rose-colored-glasses. I’ve been there too, but then we grow up, and realize what life is really about, and what the realities are of getting it done.

Now, Obama will most certainly get my vote, as the best option between 1) some inexperience, but lots of gusto from the Obama candidacy, or 2) the huge potential that a VP with practically no experience running any sizable campaign, let alone running a country, is next in line for the office if, God forbid, something were to happen to McCain. A 72-year-old man, history of skin cancer and other ailments, running with a know-nothing-but-has-female-parts running mate. NOT for me.

Sadly I feel that the entire McCain campaign has just thumbed their nose at American women, assuming we all are stupid enough to vote for him simply because he now has “some woman” as his running mate; did he ever once take into consideration her record, or her level of experience? Additionally, my understanding is he’s met her personally only ONCE (long enough for a photo shoot, or was that Photoshop?)!

Honestly, there is no way now that I could ever regain the respect I had for McCain at the beginning of these campaigns. For a man with his level of political experience, who seemed to really have his ducks in a row, to have made such a profound blunder makes me realize that, though he may make a good leader, he is not very smart when it comes to making good political choices.

McCain was sadly sadly mistaken in this decision, and, I’m convinced, it will cost him the election. It may not seem like much today, but at the least he’s lost my vote.
